BUILD A PROCESS

Follow a complete circulation

Start with systemic venous blood returning to the heart.

Build a process

Use the up and down buttons to build the sequence, then check your reasoning. Some biological events overlap; follow the simplified pathway described here.

  1. 1
    Aorta → body tissues
  2. 2
    Left ventricle
  3. 3
    Pulmonary veins → left atrium
  4. 4
    Pulmonary artery → lungs
  5. 5
    Right ventricle
  6. 6
    Venae cavae → right atrium
Read the complete pathway
  1. Venae cavae → right atrium. Systemic venous blood returns to the right side.
  2. Right ventricle. Blood crosses the tricuspid valve.
  3. Pulmonary artery → lungs. The right ventricle drives pulmonary circulation.
  4. Pulmonary veins → left atrium. Oxygenated blood returns from the lungs.
  5. Left ventricle. Blood crosses the mitral valve.
  6. Aorta → body tissues. The left ventricle drives systemic circulation.
